Brooke Demeter and Ashton Mowdy announce their plans to marry in October 2011, with Don Demeter, pastor of Grace Community Church, officiating.
The bride-elect is the daughter Russ and Risa Demeter and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Demeter of Oklahoma City and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rogers of Del City. She is the great-granddaughter of Katherine Madole of Oklahoma City.
She is 2007 of Mustang High School graduate and a student at the University of Central Oklahoma School of Nursing. She works at Silver Accents Boutique and has a professional part-time modeling career, including appearances in magazines such as Seventeen, Teen Prom, Brides of Oklahoma and College Crowd.
The prospective groom is the son of Rick and Teena Mowdy and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Stafford of Mustang and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Mowdy of Coalgate. He is the great-grandson of Velma and the late Royal Banks of Mustang, and Woodrow and the late Wanda Gwinn of Coalgate.
He is a 2005 Mustang High School graduate and earned an associate's degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College in 2008. He was drafted in June 2008 to the Houston Astros Baseball organization where he is employed as a professional pitcher. During the 2009 season, Mowdy was selected for the award of best curve ball pitcher for the Astros' minor league teams.
