Barney Daniel “BD” Parker, 85, died Saturday after an extended illness. Services will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service with interment following with military honors at Yukon Cemetery.
Mr. Parker was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Mt. Olive, N.C. He joined the Navy after high school and served his country in the Pacific Theater during World War II and then during the Korean War. He was in the Navy five years and the Coast Guard twenty-one years. He traveled the east coast, settling in Oklahoma in 1974. In 1980, he joined the Merchant Marines, retiring in 1988. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mustang.
Survivors include a son, Doug Parker of Wylie, Texas; two daughters, Martha Hammock of Mustang and Barbara Coffman of Tuttle; five grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
