IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays through April 15 at Town Center. Volunteers help seniors to file their state and federal income taxes.

The Vision Impaired Support Group will meet at 10 a.m. today and on March 4. The group strives to have a visiting speaker at each meeting. Call Bob Sanders at 745-2225 regarding questions.

A local shopping trip for seniors who no longer drive will be offered on Feb. 16. The bus will travel to grocery stores, area pharmacies and the post office. It will leave at 9 a.m. and return at 1:30 p.m.

Mustang Senior Center hosts fun events all week long. There are cards, domino and bingo games through the week.
Some of the happenings this week are:
uSeniors will play White Elephant Bingo at 11 a.m. Friday. Participants are invited to bring a white elephant item from home, but it is not required.
Music Makers perform at 9 a.m. on Mondays.
A musical jam session is held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Monday.
The Gospel Discords gather to sing traditional hymns from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays.
The Good Timers perform at 9 a.m. on Thursdays.

The 2010 Friends of the Mustang Public Library Chocolate Festival will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb 12 at the Mustang Town Center. Tickets are $8 for six tastes.
Businesses, clubs and individuals are invited to put their culinary skills to the test by offering their favorite chocolate treats.
Prizes will be awarded for best chocolate and most elaborate table. Winners are chosen by popular vote.

Children can come and read with therapy dog Denzel the Great Dane on Saturday and Feb. 20 at the library.
Denzel is a certified therapy animal and will be at the library starting at 2 p.m.
This is a great program for reluctant or struggling readers. Children build confidence in their reading skills.

A free spring garden basics workshop will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 27 at the library.

Federal tax forms are available at the library.
Forms and instructions include the 1040, 1040-A and 1040-EZ.
Libraries received computer files containing the state tax forms, and customers may print forms and instructions for 10 cents per page.
Taxpayers may also visit the Oklahoma Tax Commission Web site at www.oktax.state.ok.us to print forms or to file online, or call 521-3160.

The Mustang Historical Society is selling postcards at the library. Each postcard portrays historic photos of old Mustang reprinted on postcards.
The postcards are $1 apiece or one can buy a gift set of six postcards for $5.
The society's book “History of Mustang, Oklahoma, 1901-1914” is also available for purchase at the library.
All proceeds benefit the Mustang Historical Society.

A winter dance for fifth- and sixth-graders will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the recreation center.
Children can climb the rock wall and play games. Tickets cost $5 in advance and $7 at the door. The event was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

Registration for adult softball leagues has started.
Play will start March 21 for Sunday night leagues and March 24 for Wednesday night leagues. Men's and coeducational leagues will play from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday nights and 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday nights. There will be double-headers each night.
Spring league fees are $275 per team with ASA sanction fees included. It is a 16-game season with $15 per game for umpires.

An American Red Cross baby-sitter training course will be held Feb. 20. The class will begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.
Participants will learn basic child care, feeding and changing diapers and how to handle emergencies as well as first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The cost is $35 and includes the Baby Sitter's Training Handbook.

A baby bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 20 at Town Center.
Booth space costs $10, and participants can sell new or used clothing, toys and other items for babies and children.
Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. for individuals to set up their booths. For information, call 376-3411.

Registration is open for the Parks and Recreation Department's after-school program.
Children are brought to Mustang Elementary, and youth who live in the city limits and attend that school and Mustang Centennial Elementary may participate.
The after-school program continues through May 25. For information, call Youth Coordinator Dee Cope at 376-3411.
